Disney World

Epcot - Part One

Monday (8th) was our first adventure into Epcot. We ate breakfast in the resort's food court and left on the Disney bus. It is very easy to travel to and from the different kingdoms using the buses Disney provides.

We entered Epcot and, of course, posed in front of Spaceship Earth. We had scheduled two days at Epcot and in those two days we did not ride inside this amazing icon.

Mission Space seen below was not entered because it was our choice! This attraction taps into the inner astronaut in us as one blasts into space. There are two tracks a guy can take - the Orange Team is an intense journey and the Green Team is a milder mission. Judy and I decided that even a milder mission was not a good adventure for us at this time.

We did go into the building across from Mission Space. This is Ellen's Energy Adventure. Ellen DeGeneres and Bill Nye (the science guy) take us through the world of energy. We traveled through a land of animated dinosaurs and ended with the energy concerns of today!

This was a lovely day with temperatures in the upper 60's and plenty of that good ole Florida sunshine.

Judy and I experienced the 3-D movie, Honey I Shrunk the Audience. We loved it when the mice were scattered into the theater, but the final sneeze by the enlarged dog was a little slimy!

Outside the theater were a series of dancing fountains. It was fun to watch the kids trying to catch the bouncing water arcs.

We walked to the World Showcase and visited a few countries. We watched the movie, O Canada!, and had lunch at the England exhibit. Fish and chips (yummy) were ordered and we ate at an outside plaza. A couple of women sat at a table beside us. One left the table to get some malt vinegar for her fish. The other woman answered her cell phone. An enterprising sea gull swooped down and flew away with a fish plank from the absent woman's lunch. The absentee was none too happy that her friend had "let" the gull steal her lunch. The reason we noticed the whole thing was because the fish thief was surrounded by several squaking fellow gulls who tried to get their share of fish.

We did not give The Living Seas exhibit justice. After riding into the building on the clam-mobile, we left and did not realize all that the aquarium offered. Maybe next time we will be able to explore this area in more detail.

Here is another transportation mode that we did not experience. Judy kept saying, "Let's ride the monorail!" She could not understand thay it only goes from Epcot to the Magic Kingdom. In Animal World the question presented itself again - "Can we ride the monorail now?" Love that gal!

We had a reservation in the Coral Reef Restaurant located beside The Living Seas. We could eat and watch the marine creatures swim by our table. Of all the eateries that we experienced, this was our least favorite for quality of food.

Tomorrow - Epcot's Illuminations
