Disney World
Alligator Bayou - Room 3964

We stayed in the Alligator Bayou section of Port Orleans - Riverside. The guest rooms are divided into two distinctly themed parishes: the stately white-columned Magnolia Bend mansions and the quaint backwoods cottages of Alligator Bayou.

Judy and I were impressed with the marvelous landscaping and the continued effort to keep the grounds clean and litter free.

Even though there were many cottages (over 2000 rooms in just this one resort), one gets the idea that you are indeed in the isolation of a bayou along the mighty Sassagoula River

Our room had a king-sized bed. When in Disney World one always tries to find Mickey Mouse. It is not difficult. Even the quilt on our bed had the presence of that famous rodent!

The room was very comfortable with all the amentities such as a refrigerator, hair drier, iron and ironing board, cable television (with a multitude of channels dedicated to Disney!), and coffee/tea pot.

Notice that the TV-bureau cabinet doors are punched copper similar to an old pie cupboard or pantry. The bed posts and curtain rods are rough-hewn branches. Each day the cleaning folks did a super job. Their towel art reminded us of our cruise a few years ago.

We were located on the second floor and had a great view of the bayou area!

Located in the center of Disney's Port Orleans Resort — Riverside, the 3.5-acre Ol' Man Island is encircled by a bend of the Sassagoula River. Tom Sawyer would love Ol' Man Island—it features an extensive pool complex, a wooded playground and an old-fashioned fishing hole with a catch-and-release policy.

Tomorrow - off to The Magic Kingdom!
