Important Announcement!

We will postpone our blogging of Nate's Birthday party until tomorrow. You will have to wait to see who the special guest was that arrived during the party.

Today I have to interupt this blog by warning all my friends when traveling to Buckhannon on Route 19 East to be aware of flying avian torpedoes!

Yesterday, Judy and I were off to Elkins to deliver the WV State Folk Festival newspaper to the printers at the InterMountain newspaper office. Hurray, it was finished! As we were going up Buckhannon Mountain (Before the auto mall), we were startled by an implosion of the windshield!

Glass everywhere - luckily we were both fine. It was super that Judy and I were wearing sunglasses.

Judy was sitting in the passenger seat when a large turkey decided to fly into the windshield in front of her! (As I tell this story, the turkey gets bigger and bigger. It started out as around 20 pounds.. it now has increased its weight to 75 pounds. You guys know that a male wild turkey can weigh any where from 11 to 24 pounds.) We were traveling the speed limit which is 65 miles per hour. Hitting a 20 pound critter at that speed can do some damage.

We pulled off the 4 lane and discovered a plethora of turkey feathers attached to the broken safety glass. A person from InterMountain newspaper met us and we handed him the CD containing the data of the Folk Festival newspaper.

We traveled on the berm back to Weston. Our friends at H&M Auto were so kind. They provided us with a van to use. We placed our orange baby in their body shop. Our State Farm friends were so efficient. An adjuster is scheduled for tomorrow so that our repairs can be accomplished as soon as possible.

In this picture, you may think that Judy was calm and collected. Please call on the cell phone and I will give you the "rest of the story".

Wow- another of life's adventures. How can we get upset when we were not hurt and have so many friends that come to our aid. I have said it many times- WE ARE SO BLESSED!

OK- tune in tomorrow for the continuation of Nate's first birthday party.
