The cloudy day gave way to sunny skies. The sea of blue and gold is always impressive. The boys love to watch the players coming onto the field at the start of the game. The entrance of the players onto the field was modified by the new coach. No longer do the Mountaineers run through a large inflatable WVU football helmet. They still enter with a wall of smoke leading their way.
I don't know why, but the Norfolk State team did not have the festive atmosphere during their entrance onto the field!
The band is always wonderful. The WVU Mountaineer was ready with his musket in hand.
Nate was really interested in all the opening game activities.
This flag is carried around the field each time WVU scored with a touchdown. The first half of the game was really sad. The poor Mountaineers looked as if they were a high school football team. The half-time score was WVU 10 and Norfolk State University 16.
Judy and I love the WVU band. They are outstanding.
Since the game was a day before the 10th anniversary of the 911 tragedy, it was appropriate that their half-time show was geared to honoring each of the armed forces.
Tomorrow - Game's End
