Ecstasy and Sorrow

If you recall, I have been watching this volunteer plant grow and take over our yard. Beautiful blossoms appear, but no fruit. Before we left on our trip to Columbus, I looked out and saw the one and only fruiting body.


The pumpkin/squash was beautiful and I was ecstatic.

Upon returning home from our Columbus trip, my ecstasy turned into sorrow! Yes, the beautiful fruit was devoured by deer. They have been munching each morning on the critter. I give up - deer have to eat also!
