Jeff Fetty
Yesterday we went to Spencer to visit Mom and sister Judy and also see the mayor, Terry Williams. We are working with Terry on a Create WV project. Terry Williams has been Spencer's mayor for the past 31 years. We hope to use Spencer's experience in planning positive projects for Glenville.
Spencer is currently involved with establishment of an artist colony on Chestnut Street. The city owns many acres on a ridge near the water treatment plant. They are offering building lots at greatly reduced rates for artists. Case in point is the successful metal artist Jeff Fetty. (http://www.jefffettyironwork.com/) Jeff was thinking of moving to Buckhannon where his son lives because his shop was slipping down the hillside. You probably have seen Jeff’s flowers along Corridor G outside of Charleston at Trace Fork and from the I-79 overpass near Children’s and Women Hospital.

The Mayor and the city counsel agreed to make a contract with Jeff and trade some property if he would establish a collection of his large metal flower art in downtown Spencer. The flowers are up, and Jeff is finishing a large new studio/workshop on the Chestnut Street acreage. The flower sculptures are at the junction of Routes 33 and 14. Currently a wood artist is building a studio near Jeff Fetty’s establishment on the city’s acreage.
