Happy 2010 To Thee

It was a good weekend. For the past three years, we have celebrated the New Year with friends. Here is a brief summary of our weekend.

Judy and I traveled to Miss Pix and Sir Dan's in Charleston on New Years eve. We had an excellent dinner at Laury's. This divine downtown favorite is housed in the former C&O Railroad depot and features a fine dining menu and a memorable ambience. Since 1979, the restaurant has served up a menu of superbly-done American favorites. Enjoy delectably-seared steaks, delicious desserts and a fabulous choice of desserts. The professional staff make every dining experience a memorable one at this Charleston dining favorite. It was certainly a fine gourmet experience.

After dinner, we attended three of Charleston's Good Night concerts. Since 1995, Charleston's Community Music Association has presented a citywide showcase of local entertainment. It's a chance to sample a mix of styles and genres: everything from Dixieland jazz to gospel to ballet.

We started out at Christ United Methodist with the lovely songs of the womenSong Cabaret. Immediately after this performance, our favorite group followed in concert also at Christ United Methodist - the Martin Luthur King Junior Male Chorus. They are amazing! We finished out the evening at St. Mark's United Methodist with the harmonies of the Kanawha Kordsmen Barbershop Chorus.

On Friday (New Years Day), Pix and Judy went shopping to spend some of that hard earned Kohl's cash. I lucked out because those two ladies really were MY personnal shoppers. I have now several new sweaters and sweatshirts. Thanks, Pix, for helping Judy.

On Saturday we were to meet our college friends from North Carolina in Charleston. They were visiting family in the Summersville area. This did not work out since the weather turned snowy and was bitter cold. As I am writing this posting, it is Sunday aound 5 AM and the temperature is 14 degrees.
The snow plow just went down the street - an inch of new fluffy snow this morning.

Before we left on Saturday Pix fixed a wonderful meal of lasagna, artichoke and feta salad, garlic bread, and many tasty desserts. We arrived in Glenville with a gift from Pix to BOB (remember the feline who arrived at our abode and is living under the deck?). Bob now has a heated house thanks to Pix! We placed her heated bed in a Rubbermaid bin. Wow, Bob immediated crawled into his new bed and you could see happiness on his face. Guess Bob may have to make a vet trip soon - feline leukemia test, vaccines, and castration. Our vet will be most appreciative. Our vet trip will certainly help pay for his Christmas gifts!

It was once again a great time sharing the holidays with friends. Thanks Pix and Dan for your hospitality!
