A Fine Day At The

Farmers Market

Saturday was a great day at the market. Vendors were prepared to sell their produce. Many folks attended and they did not disappoint the gardeners. There was an array of fresh corn, tomatoes, potatoes, melons, honey, peppers, onions, garlic, and the list goes on. Ken Townsend displayed his 1917 Sears Economy 2-cycle engine which powered an 1850's vintage corn mill. Fresh corn meal is a luxury

The market is a real coming together of the community. John Bennett and my Judy examine the fresh corn being unloaded.

I love Kesslie Minney and his good wife, Hallie. Kesslie has this wonderful, kind smile. (Well, it may be an ornery smile!)

Grace Oppe is buying onions and garlic.

This lad does a good job in offering onions and even braided garlic to his customers.

Cole's Produce table had green beans. The Cole's have one of their gardens in Jane Lew where, according to his mother and chief sales lady- C. D. Cole set out 45,000 tomato plants. That's correct- 45,000!

I noticed that this Heavenly Blue morning glory in bloom. I love these flowers, but have not had much success in growing these fellows.

Larry Chapman and our good friend, Sharon Phares, are discussing the important advances in agricutural technology.

You have to love a market where the Charlie Brown lemonade (I mean - lemomaide!) stand is on the scene.

Only 10 cents for a glass of fresh squeezed lemonade!

These Calhoun County gardeners always have great local grown produce.

This Saturday's market had also a demonstration of bee keeping. These folks do a great job and produce wonderful honey.

David Millard is starting the grill for hot dogs.

A hot dog is not a hot dog without gourmet sauce. The sauce was made by the official greeter, Mary Lou McPherson.

It is a blessing to have this market in Glenville!
