Country Store in the Fall

Dave Brown is the Folk Festival volunteer who spends many hours taking loving care of the Folk Festival Country Store and Museum. Dave was at a meeting today so Judy and I opened the store this morning. The store is open on Fridays and Saturdays during the fall season from 10 Am to 4 PM.

We had a couple visiting from Little Hocking, Ohio, at the 10 AM opening. Fran Schmetzer and Jack Conrad arrived and we had a super pleasant visit. Fran is holding her wonderful book which is available for sale in the store.

It was a good thing Fran stopped by. She had to show Judy the secret of opening the antique cash register below. As with many of the artifacts in the store and museum, I would love to hear the stories that this cash register could tell.

If you have not been in the store recently, stop by - you will enjoy seeing those items of our past history. Remember when ladies hats were the style? These hats were certainly part of the finery ladies wore to church.

If your clothes are soiled, how would like to try your hand at this high tech washing machine below?

One of the historic items I love is this old ornate reed organ. This organ was instrumental in the worship services at the Glenville Presbyterian church. It was donated to the country store by members of the congregation.

Tomorrow I will introduce you to other artifacts that are housed in this unique museum.
