Glenville Presbyterian Church Organ Dedication

Last Sunday, we attended the dedication of the new pipe organ at the Presbyterian Church. Joseph Marchio (left) performed and Chris Nagorka (right), who built the pipe organ, was in attendance.

Joseph Marchio completed his Master of Divinity at Yale University and is a candidate for the Master of Music at the Boston Conservatory. What a talent!

Chris Nagorka founded Kanawha Organ Works and was reponsible for the construction of the organ. You could tell he was so proud of his creation, which is named Kanawha Organ Works Opus 3.

Chris gave a behind the scenes tour of the organ. It contains of 341 pipes ranging in size from nine feet to the size of a pencil. There is a mixture of new and used pipes, some which date to 1913. The fascade pipes, which consist of the bottom octave of the Great Principal, were formerly used in the organ at Bream Memorial Church in Charleston. The console was orginally installed in the First Presbyterian Church of Bowling Green, Kentucy.

Joeseph Marchio is with his Dad (left) and the minister and his wife are on the right.

It was a good time. Judy always has the ability to find kids!
