July 4th in Shepherdstown!

Yes, I have been slow in updating the ole blog. Hopefully that will be corrected. Judy and I left on Friday to visit with our Shepherdstown family. It was so hot, but we did have some porch time as you can see - Miss Lucy and I are in cuddle mode.

Sunday was the second 4th of July celebration sponsored by the Shepherdstown Rotary Club. The parade started at 3 P.M. and then the other activities were held at the Rumsey Monument Park.

I love to see the Rumsey Experiment - the replica of James Rumsey's steam powered boat.

Many wonderful antique cars were in the parade. My good wife always wanted to marry a man with an antique car! Our 1999 Dodge van with 190,000 miles is as close as I can get.

The lama trekking company was in the park with their great animals.

The Fire Department set up their pumper truck so the kids could enjoy the Slip and Slide. This was a really wonderful kid activity on a day when the temperatures approached 100 degrees.

Lucy was a little apprehensive, but finally got up her courage to run down the wet path.

Flora loves the Slip and Slide. She has to hold her nose even though the water is not deep enough to enter her nasal canals.

It was a great people watching event. We returned home on Monday after a good weekend with our family.
