Around the house, the good wife has established what our kids call "Mom's altars". My Dad was transferred to heaven in 1989, but his handcrafted train is always a part of this season's celebration.
The horse collar mirrow is donned with holly. (I am still looking for the mistletoe!)
We always display the family stockings on the handcrafted pitch fork. The girls have fancy high heel socks while I am represented by the more traditional male variety.
The nativity scene below was Grandma and Grandma Musgrave's. I chuckle when I see navitities that have a plethora of animals as part of the scene - camels, donkeys, sheep, cows, and other critters. You Bible scholars know that all these animals that are often included in nativities have no basis in Bibical descriptions, but actually originated with St. Francis of Assisi. He is known as the patron saint of animals, the environment and Italy, and it is customary for Catholic churches to hold ceremonies blessing animals on his feast day of 4 October.
Looking around the living room and entrance area, we see more of Miss Judy's Christmas touch.
Our feline kids are of no help when it comes to decorating (or any other useful endeavor including mice capture!) Here is Belle in her usual position that she maintains 21 out of the 24 hours of each day.
I am certain Belle learned this relaxation technique from her older brother, Max!
