No Jubilee!

Above is our friend, John Morris. John is a fantastic fiddler and is seen here playing at the Stonewall Jackson Jubilee. It is a sorry event when one of West Virginia's long held attractions bites the dust. The Jubilee has been cancelled for this year. Sounds as if there are other administrative problems beside the financial issues.

Here is the news article from Weston.

WESTON -- The West Virginia University Extension Service says there will not be a 2009 Stonewall Jackson Jubilee.

WVU's Jackson's Mill has hosted the Jubilee for the past 35 years.

The Jubilee's board canceled this year's event, because of financial problems.

Last year's Jubilee did not break even and the board ended up owing Jackson's Mill about $27,000.

The WVU Extension Service says it hopes the Jubilee will resume in the future.

The ghost of ole Stonewall seems to be disgusted at this news. Well, the 60th year of the WV State Folk Festival will be next week. Since the Folk Festival is an all volunteer festival, it is amazing that this celebration is in its 60th year. You all are invited!
