Seebert Food
Ok, when we get together with our friends, the girls always cook yummy treats. The stove above provided wonderful warmth as the firewood oxidizes. The real stove is the one in the kitchen that cooks the weekend food plan. Judy fixed chicken and dumblings for Friday's supper. Twas great as usual.
My favorite meal would be Pix's breakfasts. She can make the perfect eggs and bacon along with fried potatoes. Her bacon is wonderful and crisp. I have tried but can not cook bacon like this - it has to do with SLOW cooking.

We relaxed and shared stories on Saturday. We decided to have supper in Lewisburg at The General Lewis Inn.

The General Lewis is located on the site of an 1862 Civil War Battle. Civil War and Revolutionary history lives around every corner of historically preserved Lewisburg.

The hand-built walnut and pine desk below is located as you enter the Inn and dates to 1760. Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson stood at this desk when they registered in the Sweet Chalybeate Springs Hotel, one of the many mineral springs resorts in the area visited by the antebellum aristocrats of the South. Pix was talking with this fellow - man, he looks familiar.

The Inn is a 1929 addition to a home constructed in 1834. It is furnished with antiques collected locally by the Inn's founder, Randolph K. Hock, and his wife, Mary Milton Noel.

Memorabilia of the resourcefulness of mountain pioneers are displayed in Memory Hall's collections of tools, guns, household utensils and musical instruments. Many are handmade relics fashioned from parts of covered wagons. Throughout the Inn are numerous old cupboards filled with early glass pottery, china, and curios

The dining room of The General Lewis is very charming. The food and service was superb! Judy and I shared baked salmon and prime rib. Pix had a great veggie plate and Dan had the famous Randolph Chicken which has hidden inside one of his favorite foods - country ham.

Once again - another great mini-vacation!
