Saturday At The Wood Festival
On Saturday, Judy and I traveled to the hamlet of Grantsville to have another adventure. We had to stop first at Jeanne Kennedy, Anne Flynn, and Jim Flynn's yard sale on North Lewis Street. These are such great folks. The money they raised went to the Relay for Life. Gosh, we left with some really neat things. Later in the week I will show you our exotic find!
At the Festival we were in time to look around at the exhibits and crafts.
We are always looking for new crafters that might be interested in coming to the WV State Folk Festival. There were two craft folks that traveled together selling Native Ameican items. There was a fellow made really neat Indian tools at very reasonable prices.
Here are some of his Native American crafts. I loved the turtle rattle. His club was also a favorite of mine. Could it be that I liked it because the club was crafted with a snake handle?
We stopped to watch the line dancers and cloggers. Wait! Who is that lady dancer in blue beside the man with the hat? It looks like a Gilmer County person!
Yep, it was Karen Kuhl. Here is Karen with Judy. They are both in the Thimbles and Threads Quilt Guilde. Wow, a quilter who clogs! Karen and husband, Ron, go on gem hunting expeditions. They even have their own dredging equipment.
The photo below is of a crafter who makes Native American style jewlery from bleached bones. The bones are not bleached by using Clorox but, instead, she leaves the bones to be bleached naturally in the sun.
Below is the booth of Debbie and Shannon Adams. They are Gilmer Countians and will be exhibiting this month at the Folk Festival. Debbie makes wonderful dolls and teddy bears.
Who is that fellow taking photos with me on the street? It is Bob Weaver who publishes the on-line forum, The Hur Herald. I bought my first car from Bob. Tomorrow I shall post the photos of the Wood Festival parade.
