Dad Meads (1944)

Mom Meads (1944)

The Veteran's Legacy Project

The West Virginia Veterans' Legacy Project seeks to preserve and protect the recollections, memories, and stories of men and women who served in the US military including oral and video interviews, pho
tographs, certificates, and memorabilia associated with West Virginia's veterans.

The Glenville State College Robert F. Kidd Library employees have embarked on the West Virginia Veterans Legacy Project.

Aspects of the project include the collection of and/or digitization of memorabilia, letters, articles, and photographs associated with West Virginia’s part in armed conflicts since World War II. This project has been made possible through funding provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Mom Meads became a part of this project last Tuesday. She was interviewed by GSC Project Director Bob Henry Baber (left) and Archivist Jason Gum (standing). Jason was responsible for the taping.

There was a flurry of activity in our living room. Mom did really well. Bob Edwards, GSC Public Relations Director, and Deidre Miller, news reporter from the local paper, were also present during the taping of her interview.

I thought I would include a few pictures of Mom's and Dad's wedding on October 7, 1945. It was held in San Diego, California. The pastor was Mom's Dad (Ben Davis), who was a Methodist minister. He came from Montana to perform the wedding.

These photos will become part of Mom's Veterans Legacy Project.
