Pocahontas County Historical Society

Tuesday was a rainy day. We decided to have lunch at French's in Marlinton and then tour the Pocahontas County Historical Society's Museum. The museum is the family home of the late Frank R. and Anna V. Hunter and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The reconstructed cabin below housed a family of nine! It is located to the right of the main house.

Once entering the Museum, one is impressed with the variety of artifacts. Below is a wonderful old cyclinder music box complete with extra cylinders. The matching rosewood table completes this unique piece of history.

Flora was excited about this ole faded black bear. Grandpa was impressed with the antique wheel chair that was powered by great upper arm strength.

Here is Flora posing beside this great cash register.

OK- Lucy has to be in this photo. She is enjoying the scenery from the back of her dad.

Grandma especially loved the museum. She is one that wants to learn more and will read the descriptions of each item carefully.
