Thanksgiving on the Open Sea!

Yes, We departed St. Maarten on Wednesday evening. Thanksgiving day was spent sailing toward our final island destination, Nassau.

It was interesting how the staff kept us aware of the day of the week. The foor of the elevators had removable sections that were changed to reflect the current day of the week. This day was obviously Tuesday when we were in St. Thomas.

I thought that while we sail, I would post some additional views of the Navigator of the Seas. We had many photos taken by the ships photographers. Yes, we purchased several! I shall post these later.

Here is Jeff on Deck 3 where he is searching the Photo Gallery. You can imagine, with 3,100 people on board, how many photographs must be taken on each cruise. Finding them requires some time and energy, but they have them organized in a way that makes their presentation logical.

Here is our dining partner for the week of our cruise. The three levels of the dinning room are linked by a huge, curving, arched staircase with the focal point being a bronze statue of a ballerina "en pointe".

Up the stairway from the Viking Crown Lounge one finds the intimate Skylight Chapel. It gets its name from the stained glass skylight that resides over the pulpit. This is a gorgeous chapel and Judy is enjoying the intimate experience.

The Cafe Promenade is a good spot for a quick breakfast, lunch or snack. This no-fee sidewalk cafe, great for people-watching, serves fruits, rolls, sandwiches, pizza, cookies and Seattle's Best Coffee. Also the Cafe Promenade has a Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop, with 16 of the company's famous flavors. Sarah and Jeff are having a quick snack before continuing the Navagator adventure.

The Dungeon is a disco area that is a really unique facility. In the Dungeon, there are sculptures of muscians that obviously have not found the plethora of food on the ship. We tried to have the disco experience, but are too old! Well, what I mean is that things do not start happening here until 11:30 or so! One has to remember that bedtime at home is around 10 PM.

The entrance to Studio B resides just forward of the Photo Gallery and what an impressive feature on a ship. We attended the ice show and it was great. The photo below shows the ice rink, but they were having a shopping show at this time.

I loved the life sized permanent guests that we found on the ship.

Here is Judy's favorite, Desire, located in the casino.

Is this sexual harassment?

The Ixtapa Lounge below is the site of the Art Auctions held on the ship. We are not talking "Starving Artists" paintings. New and old masters were auctioned. We were empressed with the variety and included such masters as Salvador Dahli, Rembrant, Pabo Pissaco, and Vincent Van Gogh. This was also the site of karaoke and trivial pursuit nights.

An $8.5 million art collection graces the ship with 2,213 art pieces in the public spaces.

I forgot to mention that the Iztapa Lounge was the our "mustering area" in case of an emergency on the ship. During our first hour on the Navigator, we were required to attend an emergency drill. Here are the retirees in their life gear!

PS- I did select the turkey and dressing over the many seafood fares available for Thanksgiving dinner. Knew you would be proud of me!
