Coral Fungi

Yesterday I finally got to do some much needed weeding in the flower garden. Growing in the decaying mulch is this neat little fungus called coral fungi or antler fungi. These critters are growing in a wide area of the garden.

Often the coral fungi are brightly colored. These are only an inch or so in height.

Though most species are fleshy and edible, not many people pick them to eat because of their small. I would never recommend eating any fungi that you find unless you are certain it is edible. There is no cure for toxic fungi poisoning.
